Pagoda has AMAZING food. The flavor combos are really special. Lemongrass tofu bahn mi, I mean, come on! I usually get the tofu scramble because I like breakfast tacos, and that's okay email thing I miss about Texas, but this place has definitely filled the void. Sundays are usually crazy, but we'll worth rhetoric wait. The staff is super friendly, and the water station, and live music is a nice touch.

I'm always on the lookout for budget friendly options in this city... places where I can grab a good meal with a friend (or date) while still having enough dough left in my pocket for other things... like my light bill. So, when I discovered Pagoda Cafe right in my neighborhood (thank you Yelp app!) and I saw that the most expensive thing on the menu is $9 (you read that correctly... everything on the menu is $9 or less), I knew I had found my perfect spot! I had 2 breakfast tacos which came with some delicious, although spicy, homemade sauce. I also had iced chai with almond milk, which is nice because most places have soy milk or regular milk and that's it. My friend got the chicken salad and also commented on how fresh it tasted, especially the bread which was buttered and grilled right before our meal was served. All in all, I love this place and will definitely be back again before the summer is out. Even if it is just to sip some iced chai and people watch on the patio!

Yum. Fresh ingredients, clean place, great staff. I was thrilled to get a decaf coffee and use real vanilla syrup to flavor it. My friend got an iced regular and loved it. Our food was just as good - I got the ham and brie and wish I could put that apricot rosemary jam on everything for the rest of time. I also wish I could have tried it with the French bread but they were out, so they replaced it with ciabatta. My friend had a sandwich with fried lemongrass tofu that was so good, she came back two days later to get it again. If you're in the 7th ward, don't miss this one.

I have had Pagoda Cafe bookmarked now for quite some time, and I really don't know why I haven't come in. It is a tiny building, only big enough to go in and order your food, but the shaded outside area is great to come to eat. The staff is very friendly. To drink, I had the ginger tonic. It was light and very refreshing on this warm morning. The bacon tacos were awesome, hot and so fresh! The side dipping sauce does have a very slight kick, but is SO very yummy! I am very glad I came, and I look forward to coming back!

I love that I can walk here from my house. I love that they serve breakfast tacos. (I am a taco addict who does NOT want help.) I love that on a nice day you can sit on the patio and watch the neighborhood go by. I love that one Sunday a month when some cool guys and their reggae 45s show up and play cool music while the kitchen serves some delicious curry and I can bring my own wine and play dominoes on the picnic table. I love that ALL!!
(5)Christopher W.
Excellent spot for coffee and a light breakfast or lunch during the fall through spring months but a little to hot for the summer since all of the seating is outside on the expansive patio. I stopped in for lunch and had a sandwich with a side salad and it was good but nothing special, the breakfast, coffee, and accompanying baked goods look great. Great place to stop and eat or stop for a sip just go when the weather is cool.

This place is great if you're looking for outdoor seating and a nice selection of coffee options. The kitchen and check out counter pretty much encompasses the entire indoor area. So, this venue seems perfect when the weather conditions are pleasant. I can only imagine that the proprietors shall have some sort of plan for inclement weather conditions other than the large patio umbrellas in place at the time of my visit. I was running an errand nearby in the neighborhood and wanted to have lunch and get back to the office in a timely manner. Looking at their menu, I decided to have the Pressed Espresso Roasted Beef Sandwich on Dong Phoung French Bread, with Swiss Cheese, Dijon Mustard and a Side Salad for $9. Well despite the pleasant ambiance, this initial experience does leave a little to be desired. Perhaps this price fits the going rate for a Nouveau Riche Cuisine menu item but it just didn't quite set right with me. Judging by the many contented reviews, I obviously selected the wrong menu item for my lunch choice. The Panini Grill process was overdone and rendered a burnt flavor to the Dong Phoung French Bread. The taste of the Espresso Roasted Beef was practically non-existent because of the triple layer of Swiss Cheese and Dijon Mustard. The Side Salad contained some really fresh nutritious ingredients, just very little of them. I am planning to return, but I won't be so hasty in selecting my meal the next time around and will pay more attention to what previous reviewers had to say.

This is the best breakfast place. Really. I had had a bad week with my kitty of 11 years having to go to the emergency vet and needing lots of medications as well as all the other stuff in life. Anyway, breakfast at Pagoda Cafe made me feel a lot better! The first time, I had the breakfast taco. It was really tasty. The second time, I had the egg cup and had to go back for another one. So yummy! Also, the atmosphere was very chill and the employees were all great on both visits. The seating is all outside, which was great with that less-humid front we had this weekend. It was a great spot to eat my breakfast, drink my iced coffee, and enjoy a sunny morning before the heat sets in.
(5)Jessie C.
Fun little spot to grab a light lunch. Staff is awesome sauce and the homemade nuttela bread is great!
(5)Carissa C.
This is a fun corner coffee/breakfast spot in Midcity NOLA. Unique foods and great coffee drinks. A little more than I typically spend for breakfast but overall a great start to the day. Great seating options too.
(5)Kyle S.
Great coffee and breakfast on the cheap, breakfast tacos and Bahn mi solid and flavorful. Excellent bread from a local bakery, $2 bottomless coffee
(5)Ryan P.
Great breakfast tacos and spicy green sauce/salsa. Outdoor seating and fairly dog friendly.

OMG, I LOVE THIS PLACE! The owners and staff are so down to earth and sweeter than freshly baked warm pies! The food is amazing, muffins, sandwiches, soups, all of it! The iced coffee is soooooo good, no acidity, smooth as can get! The espresso is ground, tamped and pulled to perfection! I love the outdoor seating and community environment bubbling up in my neighborhood! So so so thankful for the Pagoda Cafe! see ya there!
(5)Louise S.
yes, it's the best we've got and I tie it with hi volt for my favourite in the city. great food/healthyish snacks and really good coffee (nice clean bathroom too! super important). I loved it during jazz fest when they we're open until 7 but totally respect their 4pm closing. the staff are friendly and seem to get along and it's a gorgeous place to sit out in the shade and compose badly written reviews for yelp so, viva the pagoda, I'm here all summer.
(5)Michael K.
Cute little neighborhood cafe opened by the nicest Aussie transplant. Service is friendly with a great neighborhood vibe, and the food and coffee are delicious. I went for breakfast, and the breakfast burritos are the way to go! If you are looking for something a bit lighter, they have plenty of delicious looking baked goodies too.
(5)Heather M.
So, so happy to have the Pagoda Cafe in the neighborhood. Beautiful renovation of one of the most unique buildings in the 7th ward, with lots and lots of gorgeous outdoor seating. The breakfast tacos are to die for. Coffee from French Truck, lovingly prepared. Has the vibe of a laid-back (and very friendly) block party.
(5)Peter B.
Now that New Orleans has breakfast tacos, I have no use for the city of Austin, TX. I wasn't that impressed anyways, since New Orleans is the city Austin wishes it was. Good ingredients and a fantastic green salsa. I love the outdoor seating and location of the cafe!
(5)Lora D.
Excellent on ALL fronts. An absolutely welcome and quality addition to the neighborhood where we are desperate for a great coffee and a great baked good. AMAZING!
(5)Megan M.
Super cute! All outdoor seating. They just opened yesterday and were so sweet. Great corner under the trees off bayou road. Lovely.
(5)Dar W.
Lovely, inviting with first-class espresso and homemade treats. It doesn't hurt that the folks running it are some of my favorite people in town, but even if they'd weren't, I'd stop here for food and coffee for the chance to sit outside among the oaks and neighborhood of Bayou Road/Esplanade/Dorgenois and to feel the community already apparent inside.
(5)Sofia D.
Great quaint place for breakfast and casual outside dining. The atmosphere is familial. The breakfast tacos are so good especially with the green salsa with a tasty kick. Coffee , pastries are yummy.
(5)Paige J.
Visited this place a couple months ago with friends for lunch and decided to try it again this morning for breakfast. Delicious pastries, everything is made from scratch and taste very fresh. Had the berry vanilla almond muffin which was pretty darn good. Their rum cake also rocks. We had two slices with a table of seven and I think we devoured it in under a minute. Wish I could get my hands on that recipe...The sandwiches are also tasty. Love how chill and laid back everyone is that works there and the patio seating is so nice for a nice summer lunch. Only reason I'm giving it 4 stars is because I don't like the fact the pastries are left uncovered on the counter. Ugh.
(4)Anna B.
Sausage roll is amazing! I'm never really a sausage fan, but they use the Green Onion sausage from Terranova's--can't beat local!!!
(5)Pricila H.
I am a total sucker for indie coffee shops. This one was no exception. My bf and I stayed in creole cottage in the Treme area, I seriously fell in love with this part of the city. We found this place when we were driving around. My chai was amazing and my bf loved his latte. They had actual vanilla beans in their simple sugar syrup! I LOVE it when coffee shops do this. Good stuff here.
(5)Katie V.
Super cute little cafe. Nice & shady & a great destination for a bike ride. Mostly a breakfast/ lunch spot, so go early in the day! I recommend the egg cups!
(5)John W.
I adore Pagoda Cafe. It's a charming little cafe with scrumptious food and quality drinks. Dan got it right.
(5)James D.
Good, friendly service. Had their peach Brown sugar muffin, pretty good. Awesome iced mocha. A little pricey for the size, though.
(4)Rachel B.
Recommended to us by our AirBnB host - this place was perfect for breakfast. There's not much more to say besides amazing, interesting, fresh food, fantastic coffee and awesome environment. I highly recommend the toast with ricotta, figs, walnuts! Make sure you also add bacon :)
(5)Catie K.
I am officially a fan. Have you ever been to Portland, Oregon? Did you like it? Do you miss it? This. is. your. place. I had a fantastic banh mi with beets and egg. My partner had a delicious pork sandwich. Bikes, hippies, vegetarians, one obnoxious dude on cell phone being pretentious about food, etc.....PORTLAND
(5)Dan S.
Fig toasts are out of this world. No joke. The atmosphere is super hip, the staff is extremely friendly, and there's cool things to see around the area.
(5)Sarah L.
I'm kind of obsessed with this place. It is like a little piece of the west coast right here in New Orleans! Living in midcity, it's just a few blocks by bike and I feel like I'm in California (but in a good way) or Seattle (with more sun). I've only ever ordered their breakfast tacos - I've nibbled on the more organic/crunchy items that my friends have ordered and haven't loved them, as I look way more granola/hippie than I actually am inside. BUT! Pagoda still gets 5 stars because the breakfast tacos (with bacon!) are perfect, their hot sauce is one of a kind, their iced coffee made me like iced coffee, I love their outdoor seating, there are always people lingering with their dogs and books, and the great little square (technically triangle?) it sits on Bayou Rd is perfect for locking up your bike and people watching for an hour or two. If I ever want to treat myself or start a day off right, I come here.
(5)Andrea O.
I can't say enough good things about this place! I have been here multiple times and have always had excellent food, drinks, and service. The curried chicken salad sandwich, with a hibiscus iced tea, and a slice of rum cake is my go-to. You can tell that all of the ingredients are really fresh - all of the veggies are from Grow Dat and the bread is also local and delicious. The rum cake is like no other cake I've eaten. You can't leave this place without getting a slice - at least one....and maybe another one to go. It's super rich and moist and all around heavenly. Sometimes I go just for the cake. It has really chill atmosphere with all outdoor seating at a nice little spot on Bayou Road. Even with the summer heat, they have misting fans out to keep it cool and enjoyable.
(5)Em C.
Love this place! Had a kale/chickpea/feta turnover and a Grow Dat farm-fresh salad. Everything was so good and the staff was friendly. Can't wait to go back & try the bahn mi. Very vegan/vegetarian friendly. (only drawback was the Costco brand coconut water which has a weird aftertaste, a different brand would be great!) Keep up the good work!
(5)Clare P.
This is such a lovely place. Very laid back, the staff are so nice and the food is delicious! I love that it's an outdoor seating area and the breakfast and lunh are more than yummy and filling!
(4)Brian D.
Sitting on the outside deck enjoying a crisp sun splashed November morning it occurs to me that this is what I want for breakfast a lot. Simple tasty breakfast tacos, a creamy cappuccino and a homemade pastry as a finale. I had a wonderful guava cream cheese puff pastry which maybe I should've asked to warm up, but that didn't hurt the result to much. The tacos are good but lacking a crunch texture I was hoping for on the inside. The fact that you can chill under the shadow of gorgeous oak tree kicks this experience up to a 4th star. The coffee is SUPERB.
(4)Michaela A.
Truly a hidden gem. My friend introduced me a couple of weeks ago and I've already been back for the BEST coffee and the BEST sausage rolls (green onion sausage) and the BEST chocolate chip oat cookies with chocolate chips that melt inside - so good I can't wait to go back for more. Also, very friendly service. The place is kept clean. There is comfortable outdoor seating to relax and enjoy the delights of Pagoda Cafe.
(5)Kelsey G.
I love everything about Pagoda. Absolutely everything. Except that I can't walk there.
(5)Augustine A.
If I haven't seen the employee licking food off his finger while preparing someone's meal I probably would have stayed. I've read a lot of good reviews but I don't think I'll give this place a second chance.
(1)Amanda B.
Believe the hype! Delicious food, great coffee, super-friendly staff, and the best outdoor seating situation I've found in NOLA. A relaxed, adorable place to sit and read or do computer work.
(5)Awaionica S.
Really good breakfast spot. The staff was really welcoming and pleasant. The menu could be expanded a little tho , overall great spot!
(4)Cayetana S.
Such a great place. We had breakfast and the coffee was the best ! Good expresso, double shot without asking for it. Good toasts and awesome bread.
(5)Tammy T.
This place is totally a hidden gem! I wouldn't have found it if my local friend hadn't specifically recommended it. I had hardcore sniffles due to allergies when I was looking at what to order, so the barista insisted that I have their hot mint tea. I'm so glad I did, because it cleared me out right away. The flavor of the tea was very full, but not overpowering, and I was happy to see that it was a legitimate tea bag filled with the mint mix - not the cheap kind you buy at the market. The pear and ginger muffin was blow-your-mind good. The brown sugar-crusted outer layer of the muffin broke cleanly to reveal generous pieces of pear and a very fluffy inside. It was obviously homemade. I was so impressed! The boyfriend got an espresso ("Oh wow, that's strong.") and the yogurt/granola ("I don't like Greek yogurt, but this is good. They gave me a lot of fruit.") We love Pagoda Cafe. Can't wait to come back someday!
(5)Angela L.
Came across this spot while trying to find a place to have lunch! The outdoor seating was charming and inviting. I had the grilled cheese with salami, and it was amazing! Very filling. My friend had the curried chicken salad and couldn't conquer it all, but it was also delicious! My friend lived in Australia and heard that the owner was Australian. She ordered an espresso when she saw he was behind the bar. Once again, the espresso was amazing. And the owner was so kind! I want to eat here everyday!
(5)Seth C.
Loved this quaint little surprise. It gives off a very Eco friendly vibe. They create a great menu full of simple but very creative options, all with very few resources. The entire facility must be around 200 square feet. All of the seating is outside. It's GREAT! The food is very well priced and delicious. We will be back.
(5)Drew R.
What a cool new cafe! Great atmosphere and the staff seemed very happy and friendly. I had the sausage wrap - I've never had anything like it before, delicious! They have quality coffee drinks as well. I'm in New Orleans for business, and I plan to go there a few more times before I leave. Their patio is great to meet friends for a cup of coffee, or lunch.
(5)Rachel P.
My favorite neighborhood cafe! Everyone who works there is friendly and actually puts love into the food, the service, and the environment. The breakfast tacos are yummy but the salsa that accompanies them is even yummier. The scones are scrumptious but the lemon curd that accompanies them is even more scrumptious! My hubby's favorite grilled cheese is from here. These are just a few examples of what is offered on their fun and creative menu. Because they have been so well received in the neighborhood you may have to wait in line at certain times of the day but it's always worth it. Enjoy the food at a picnic table with friends or solo on a stool overlooking the happenings on the street. I am so thankful this cafe exists. I recently popped in for lunch to go and mentioned feeling sad. They knew just how to cheer me up with food, smiles, and a hug. This cafe has truly impacted the revival of the community in a pure and positive way. We love you!
(5)Eric J.
Great find. I was hesitant to order breakfast tacos because I'm from Texas but these were absolutely what the doctor ordered. I'm going to try to make it back if I'm ever in town again. Friendly and bright atmosphere with delicious food, you just can't go wrong with that.
(5)Sam H.
Just moved down the street from this place, really good iced coffee and amazing breakfast tacos. Could probably eat 17,000 of them. Definitely worth checking out.
(4)Eric P.
The coffee is delicious (especially the macchiato and the iced coffee) the food is thoughtful and original and the space and view are among the most unique and pleasant in the city. No better place to read and sip on a weekend morning.
(5)Tom K.
Everything about this place says "we care" and it carries to the patrons who are equally friendly and courteous. It's hard to pick standouts since everything I tried on three visits was deliciously prepared and carefully executed.
(5)Vanessa C.
Place was recommended by a friend. What a hidden gem in the neighborhood. Staff was extemely friendly and helpful. The breakfast tacos with bacon was absolutely amazing. The hot chocolate rich with flavor, the coffee a bit bitter for my liking, but did its trick. We also went ahead and purchased 3 pastries, coconut rum cake (OMG so good & rich with flavor), nutella pound cake & banana bread pudding with peaches. All equally delicious. Seating is outdoors, despite the cold winds, the sun made it worthwhile. Nice way to end our vacation.
(5)Angelique T.
Such a great new neighborhood spot. Very friendly service & locally-sourced ingredients for breakfast and lunch.
(5)Sharon F.
Easily one of the best places to open recently and it's no longer a secret, so I'll leave a review. Quality dishes (the breakfast burritos are 10x better than those I used to enjoy during my Taco Cabana days) and the coffee is outstanding. Outdoor seating galore and a smiling staff. It just doesn't get much better.
(5)Doug J.
Such a great breakfast spot, the Australian sausage and coffee are awesome!
(5)William D.
GREAT LUNCH. looking for something a little off beat and "Al fresco"? This fun place used to be where you dropped off your laundry decades ago. The new owners have transformed it into a place with delightful sandwiches you will not find at any other sandwich or po-boy shop. The breakfast burritos are great as well. The price is a buck or so higher then you might think it could be, but totally worth it. You can tell everything is that day (or sooner) fresh. The outdoor seating puts this place as one of my top Al Fresco spots for lunch in the city.
(5)Robert T.
I applaud the owner's daring, creativity and innovation. The Pagoda was a neighborhood curiosity which was near demolition, to save that was worth 5 stars in my book. However, more foodies read these reviews than urban planners, so let me say the food is fresh and fun and uses local ingredients in new ways. Hurray. I can get a Terranova's sausage anytime wrapped in a light puff pastry with a great dipping sauce and nice green salad with a tangy dressing and I can walk there from my house! Also I know owner Dan can make the best chai tea and coffee beverages in town, and his co-owner Shawna is a brilliant food person. Perfect combination. They told me to expect to see more on the menu, so there is the added anticipation value to this new bright star.
(5)Meat P.
Hate to rain on the party but I wish it were more affordable. The coffee is a great deal and is of good quality. The food is local, fresh, but overpriced. Early in the planning stages a lot of the neighbors were excited, but I think this is not going to be a good thing for the Bayou Road community...
